India is home to many semiconductor design companies, Indian as well as MNCs. The very presence of EDA, embedded system and design service companies has enriched the ecosystem. In 2009, myself, Prof. A.B. Bhattacharyya and Dr. M.J. Zarabi conducted an in-depth workshop with 45 seasoned professionals on “Making India Powerhouse for Semiconductor Design”. Many of the recommendations made then (see pp.29-33 of report https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdimruo9s6ha0jr/Making%20India%20Powerhouse.pdf?dl=0) are now accomplished; and with design community participation, we hope to have more achievements by 2020.
